Harry Redknapp has accused some of England's players of not caring about the team following their underwhelming 1-0 friendly win over Norway at Wembley.

The QPR boss said he understood why supporters stayed away after a crowd of only 40,181, the smallest number to attend an England match at Wembley since it was re-built, watched the game.

Writing in the Sun, Redknapp said: "Here we go again, a few months after a disastrous World Cup: yet another massive letdown for everyone.

"It is disappointment after disappointment. Half the players don't give a toss. The fans can't be bothered to watch them.

"Managers of the Premier League clubs take an interest just to see if their players are going to come back injured from international duty.

"I don't blame the supporters for not being interested in England at the moment. Why should they be?

"We were told this is the start of a new era. Trust me, I hope so, I really do, but I'm not holding my breath because it will only get harder for England with the way things are in club football.

"And what possible value is there in a total non-event against the worst Norway team we have seen for years when the supporters are still sore from the World Cup shambles?"

'arry's opinion again.......they would be no better under you.....there is only an infinite number of players eligible and quite frankly we do not have the players good enough at this level because teams buy their way to the top and our own do not come through

The problem for Redknap is every negative comment he makes about the international team looks like sour grapes because he was overlooked for the managers job. Yet some of what he says makes sense.

The truth though is the premier league has undoubtedly severely diminished England's chances of success at any tournameant for the forseeable future. When you're top five or six teams are crammed full of non English talent, how could it be any different? that and the fact, many just don't care about England as much as seeing their club team win things. Particularly those top five clubs I referred to earlier.

I recall watching the liverpool tv channel when it
Iisted England amongst the top 20 teams their fans hate!!!!
Reason: the fans said(back them) " We don't want to see David Beckjam and the Neville bros.doing well!"

It's sad about where the international's position has sunk to but nowadays the team is supported more by fans from the lower leagues and perhaps eventually some of the England players will actually becoming from the second tier at least, if things continue at the rate they're going!!

Maybe it's time for a team great Britain, oh but that rules the Scots out if they declare independence in two weeks.
