Blackburn Northern to defend Ramsbottom Cup

BLACKBURN Northern begin the defence of their Ramsbottom Cup crown tomorrow with a first round home tie against Read.

The Pleckgate Road side lifted the trophy last summer after a dramatic one-wicket victory over Baxenden in the final.

Baxenden face a difficult trip to Edenfield in round one, while current Ribblesdale League leaders Great Harwood travel to Padiham.

Ribblesdale Wanderers and Barnoldswick both earned byes to the competition's quarter-final stages.

Tomorrow's fixtures, Ramsbottom Cup round one: Settle v Oswaldtwistle Immanuel; Padiham v Great Harwood; Whalley v Earby; Edenfield v Baxenden; Blackburn Northern v Read; Cherry Tree v Clitheroe.
