Benni McCarthy scored in the final minute of the first half as Blackburn Rovers piled the pressure on former manager Mark Hughes.
McCarthy swept home from six yards out after Jason Roberts had turned two defenders in the area.
Rovers fans responded with chants of 'You're getting sacked in the morning' aimed at Hughes in the visitor's dug-out.
Earlier, Robinho had a penalty shout turned down when he fell under Andre Ooijer's challenge, and Felipe Caicedo missed an open goal when his header from Robinho's cross went wide.
