PAUL Ince has hit out at the scheduling of this afternoon’s Carling Cup quarter-final draw – admitting a potential clash with Burnley could distract from the Premier League priority.

The eagerly-awaited draw was due to take place just hours before this afternoon’s crucial league clash with Sunderland with Ince fearing his players could lose focus.

Rovers’ midweek win at Sunderland and Burnley’s giant-killing of Chelsea leaves the potential of a first East Lancashire derby since Blackburn’s FA Cup win in 2005, but Ince is keen to put all cup thoughts out of the mind.

The draw is due to take place at 12.15pm, less than three hours before kick-off at Ewood, but Ince for one won’t be glued to his television set.

He said: “I have no interest in the cup draw whatsoever. It is so important we try and pick up three points.

“It annoys me that for some stupid reason they decide to put a cup draw on at that time before the game. It can distract my players’ focus.

“If we do draw Burnley they will be going into the changing rooms saying ‘we have got Burnley’ and it will take the focus off what is more important and that is Sunderland.

“I would rather they did it on a Monday once the Premier League fixtures are out of the way.

"It is a ridiculous time to do it. It is rubbish and that is the worrying thing for me.

“You can’t stop the players finding it out and it is a massive distraction.”

And Ince finds something else to moan about. Stop whining and get on with it.

He does whinge an awful lot! International breaks, the written press, managers never phoning him when he was at macc town, ray wilkins, the list goes on. I cant imagine Carlos and Roque will be arriving at the ground talking about a potential clash against Scumley?! "Tenemos Burnley Carlos!" "Si, soy muy feliz Roque!"

I take a different view - this is Incey's way of letting the fans know that he, and the players, know how important for the fans getting drawn against Bumley would be.

I think that a lot of Ince's moaning is for a specific reason - just like Sir Alex when he gets going.

I've always been positive about ince but i've never heard a manager moaning about the timing of a cup draw, he'll not want to kick of at three o'clock next.
