Blackburn Rovers captain: We'll start climbing table soon

RYAN Nelsen insists there is no panic at Ewood Park despite seeing his Rovers side slip perilously close to the Premier League drop zone.

Sunday’s 2-0 reverse to a sublime Chelsea leaves Rovers just one point off the relegation places, but Nelsen has vowed good times are still ahead.

The Rovers skipper has seen his side tumble down the league during a six-match winless streak but he insists there is no major crisis.

He said: “There is no reason to panic at all. We had some very good chances to score and the thing is the first goal was a killer.

“That is the disappointing thing. When you play against the big teams, you prefer to get beaten by world-beater goals so you hold your hands up.

“But both goals were silly goals and that is the frustrating thing. We have had injuries to key players and that has not helped because the boss has not been able to put a consistent line up out.

“At least we are playing well, we have a big squad now and it will come.”

Having just hit three home goals all season, Rovers’ lack of a killer touch has proved costly so far this campaign.

Nelsen, though, believes the return of some key players in the next couple of weeks will add to Rovers’ firepower and see the goals start to flow.

“I think Chelsea will know they have been in a pretty good game after Sunday though,” he said.

“If we had finished our chances it could have been a different story. We are playing well.

“If we were not playing well that is when you worry. We are performing well and it will come.

“Look at Everton. They had a few results and have gone from a disastrous start to a good one.

“They were ridiculous goals weren’t they? One was a possible handball and the other came from two deflections.

“All three games against the top four are different.

"They are three of the best teams in the world but they are all different and you can’t really pick them apart.

“You enjoy playing them because you like playing against the best in the world.”

We've got the same points as West Ham and Man City , and more than Spurs, Newcastle, and Sunderland.

Problem?

Ohh sorry i forgot, Rovers are much better than these teams....... who have spent millions.????????

Were 3 points away from 8th place!!!!!!!

i forgot we were in contention to win the league this season, and after 12 games we should be top!!! and beaten Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal!!! not to mention West Ham and Villa away.

So Ryan Nelson quoted 'I think Chelsea will know they have been in a pretty good game after Sunday though' he said. Quotes like this dont give you points. Sunderland on Saturday will be the measure of Blackburn Rovers. This is a MUST win game.

i agree mate. Games against teams like Sunderland are what can make or break a season. Lets see. so so frustrating though. weve been playing some good football but we havent been taking our chances. Not inces fault - but the strikers!!!
