Blackburn Rovers' Darwen End gets sponsor

Blackburn Rovers has welcomed another major local sponsor to Ewood Park.

Leading metal fabrication and engineering business WEC Group Ltd, which is based in Darwen with a workforce of 270, has agreed a two-year deal to sponsor the Darwen End stand.

The deal, which will see the stand re-named as the “WEC Group Darwen End” from the start of next season, is of particular delight to Wayne Wild, a director at WEC Group Ltd and a staunch Rovers fan.

“I am a life-long Rovers supporter and season ticket holder,” he said. “In fact, I used to work at the ground on match days when I was a schoolboy.

Simon Williams, head of commercial and marketing at Rovers, said: “We are always very keen to strike partnerships with go-ahead local firms and this is a perfect example – the two brands complement each other very well.

“WEC Group is part of the fabric of Darwen and together we have found the perfect sponsorship package for their needs.”
