Without this 'proof' that someone speaks of suppose thats all it will have to remain. But what if proof is found? What would the fine be? Points deductions from this season? next season? Could Stanley stand that? I doubt it very much.

And its up to me what i'll do with mine and i for one will not spend another bean at Stanleys ground until this situation is resolved. Thats just how i feel. I dont need 'proof' to make my mind up about whats gone on.

Some of the players must have been part of this betting irregularity and it's up to the club to find out who was part of it. The football league should be looking into it also. Whoever was betting these large sums of money needs to be identified and questioned by the police.

I think rob has a point with a lot of the players and management staff being scousers. But i think i need to point out that the game between Peterbrough and ??? on the same day also had £175,000 total bets on it. That was still £100.000 more than third highest after... in that division.

Also, Stanley have been nothing short of awful this year. I am suprised JC is still in a job.

How about this.... the players did not get paid when they were supposed to this week... maybe someone took a big chunk of money out of the players wage bill, and as stanley were already safe from relegation and attendances have been down on last season, it was decided that instead of everyone going on holiday to tenerife this year they would like a nice holiday to the bahamas instead. Hence, wage bill was spent in different betting shops in Liverpool and Bury then won the game then wages were paid on Tuesday!!!

My guess, and im turning into Miss Marple here - its only my guess, is that it doesnt take a brain surgeon to work out that if this has gone on it stems from some or all of the Liverpool connection at the club - thats the implication being levelled by the papers.

So lets analyse it a bit. Stanley didnt have a big squad anyway and 11 have been released. Its doubtful any of that 11 were involved (as IF it stems from one or more of the top brass in the changing room) as you wouldnt want to sack anyone who you have just commited a crime with would you.

The scousers that are left are where i would be looking. Plenty of time to joke about it when you share cars from Liverpool and back to training everyday.

Then after the joking you could start to casually justify it by saying 'well we only have a short career, and we've our families to think of, we get payed less than most clubs anyway, the seasons over so what does it matter anyway'.

Then it could be just one who says 'yeah why not, shall we, im up for it?' followed by a nervous silence then the odd 'well we'd need to plan it' and those who arnt sure but dont want to go against the grain end up nodding their heads.... etc etc etc and then its done.

But then you are rumbled.

And 'proof' or no 'proof' (and i work with criminals for my job and believe me when someone starts saying 'but theres no proof' that usually, but not always, signifies guilt) i will not be attending that ground again until the people i believe are behind this are gone.

And long may they regret their decision to shaft competetive sport up the backside.

They dont deserve to enjoy sport again.


But of course i may be wrong. It may just be one big coincidence that lots of people from Liverpool decided to place lots of money on Stanley losing to Bury in a no-mark game that was missed by the rest of the countries gamblers. Stranger things have happened. or so im told.
