Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Aynsley Pears - 10

An unbelievable save to keep Rovers ahead, tipping Winks' shot onto the bar when it was goalbound. His most important contribution in a Rovers shirt.

Callum Brittain - 9

Handled the very dangerous Mavididi exceptionally well. Kept him quiet until he was taken off.

Hayden Carter - 8

One lapse of concentration in the first half which Vardy should've scored. Otherwise, faultless.

Kyle McFadzean - 9

A man mountain in the middle of the defence. Never got beaten and headed away everything that came his way.

Harry Pickering - 9

Really accomplished performance, switching from wing-back to left-sided centre-back. Good defensive positioning.

Ben Chrisene - 8

Provided energy up and down the left touchline.

Sondre Tronstad - 8

Battled hard in the middle which isn't easy when you're starved of the ball.

Joe Rankin-Costello - 8

Worked his socks off and was key to winning the ball back in the early stages.

Sam Szmodics - 10

Didn't see much of the ball. Who cares? When Rovers needed him, he stepped up. A brilliant run and sublime finish.

Tyrhys Dolan - 8

Worked hard up front and pressed at the right moments.

Sam Gallagher - 8

Ran the channels and proved a nuisance. Should've done better with a good chance in the first half.
