Arnor Sigurdsson helped Iceland reach the Euro play-off final – but was forced off following a reckless tackle.

Sigurdsson played 75 minutes as Age Hareide's side recorded a 4-1 victory against Israel to move within 90 minutes of a place in this summer’s tournament in Germany.

However, the Rovers winger came off after he was caught by Roy Revivo’s lunge which saw the defender shown a straight red card.

Israel went ahead on the night through Eran Zahavi’s spot kick but Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson equalised from a free kick.

Iceland took the lead through Arnor Traustason’s deflected strike from a corner before Revivo was sent off.

Gudmundsson added a couple more goals during the final 10 minutes to complete his hat trick and wrap up the result.

Hareide's side will now face Ukraine in the play-off final on Tuesday, March 26 at the Wroclaw Stadium in Poland.

Ukraine came from behind to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-1 thanks to late goals from Roman Yaremchuk and Artem Dovbyk.

Elsewhere in the play-offs, Poland thrashed Estonia 5-1 to set up a tie against Wales, who saw off Finland 4-1.

Georgia ended Luxembourg’s hopes of reaching a first major tournament following a 2-0 victory, while Greece coasted past Kazakhstan 5-0.

Rovers will be hoping Sigurdsson’s injury is nothing serious ahead of an important block of fixtures to finish the Championship season.

John Eustace’s side currently sit 17th in the table - three points above the relegation zone with eight games left to play.

Sigurdsson has made 34 appearances for Rovers this season since his move from CSKA Moscow, scoring seven times.
