WHEN Paul Ince is officially unveiled as Blackburn's new manager today, he will become the first black British manager in the 16-year history of the Premier League.

And his move to Rovers was welcomed by Piara Power, director of anti-racism organisation Kick It Out.

He said: "This is a refreshing appointment.

"Although Paul Ince has been given the job solely on the basis of what he can bring to Blackburn Rovers, we hope he can be an inspiration to the many other black players leaving the game and a signal to chairman across the leagues that they too should be looking at black coaching talent.

"The current situation with just two black coaches at 92 clubs set against a third of the playing work force from a black Caribbean or African background shames the game.

Who Cares?!?! I wouldnt be bothered if he was pink with yellow spots, it's his football credentials we need!

How long is this going to go on? I'm more interested in the style of football he is going to try and play and possible transfer targets, now go do some reporting rather than interviewing every possible old connection with Rovers!

Aren't the racists the ones who chose to point out racism? I'm sure it never entered into any part of the selection process AT ALL. In fact, arguably the vindication of any supposed progression in race relations surely would have been to ignore his colour, and keep it as the non-issue it should rightly be?

Sounds like the 'kick it out chap' is a bit of a racist. Why even mention it?
