Dunn: Guv'nor will be a success at Blackburn Rovers

BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder David Dunn says he's excited by the prospect of playing for the club's new Guv'nor.

After a lengthy search, Rovers' chairman, John Williams, finally got his man last night when he appointed Paul Ince as the club's new manager.

And Dunn believes the former England and Manc-hester United star will prove to be the perf-ect replace-ment for Mark Hug-hes, who quit Rovers a fortnight ago to join Manchester City.

"I'm looking forward to wor-king with him," said Dunn last night, after hearing about Ince's appointment.

"He's obviously done well at the last two clubs he's been at, and I'm sure he'll be a big success here too.

"He's young, he's ambitious, and he was a terrific player as well so, in many ways, he's like Mark Hughes.

"Both were winners as players, and they like to instil that in their players too."

Ince will be formally unveiled as Rovers' new boss at a specially arranged press conference at midday tom-orrow.

Then, once the formalities are out of the way, he will begin stamping his own personality on the job, having beaten Sam Allardyce, Steve McClaren and Michael Laudrup in the race for the Ewood hot-seat.

"Whenever a new manager comes in, it's inevitable there are going to be changes, so I'm looking forward to seeing what new ideas he brings in," said Dunn.

"It was disappointing to lose Mark Hughes, as I said at the time, but that's football.

"Now this is a fresh start for everyone, and I'm looking forward to the challenge.

"Paul was a great player and a real leader, and I'm sure he'll prove to be exactly the same as a manager."

Coincidentally, Ince was one of the first opponents Dunn ever faced in the Premier League, and that encounter had a profound effect on the Rovers midfielder at the time.

Now Rovers' new boss will be in a position to influence Dunn's career again.

"I made my debut against Liverpool and Paul Ince and Jamie Redknapp were both playing in the centre of midfield that day," recalls Dunn.

"I just remember they were both great with me.

"If I made a decent pass, they both complimented me, and that stuck in my memory, because I thought it was great to hear two top players saying stuff like that."

Fist comment from Ince to Dunny will be "Lose some weight Fat boy...."

Let's see if he still likes him after he is made to do 1000 sit ups a day and stop eating kebabs on Darwen street..

Im wanting to see some transfer activity in the near future. We need a right back, central midfielder, right winger (if bentley leaves) for starters. Im hoping that althoigh he might have a few ideas on lower league players that we can add a experienced renound player to ewood. Any ideas of signings?

sir rover, blackburn says...

re arda

not officialy but the lad is only 21 and has been their best player in euro's. wont be long before other clubs start showing an interest. tugay is a legend in turkey and we should use his influence.....

i think someone mentioned bularouz earlier. not sure about this guy, dont think he has the pace and agility to meet the demand of a modern premiership full back.

bentley in return for 12 million and lennon sounds good to me

If it matures nothing wrong there short term.
Giggs would certainly replace Bentley for me, while scholes would do a great holding role, leaving a fair bit in the kitty for some younger talent.
If I was Ince I would not waste my breath on Bentley get shut he has said enough already.
Concentrate on Roque, and if Samba wants to Join MH good luck, bring in Sonko from reading.

A club cannot take part in UEFA competitions unless the club hold a UEFA Pro Licence.
So who is coming as Ince's No 2 who holds one.

Oh rite you are I forget how silly of me.
Seeing as Ince has signed a three year deal, and failed to show for is last two coaching appointments then I think it is relevant if we are to qualify for any UEFA comps in the near future.
And not to mention the fact JW has also been quoted and reported that we wii be appointing a coach shortly. This is the point to my Post as I had made clear in earlier post, Who will be No.2

Thai - do yourself one almighty favour please? Don't believe all you read on the web, and if you do - please keep it yourself. You read from the worse possible sources (teamtalk, wikipedia and comments on pages like these), then repeat tripe as 'facts'. Take a good long look through all the forum posts on here & teamtalk, then look at the minicule amount of truth. Ince DID attend Aberystwth session. Your post ref UEFA licence lack credence, ask yourself how Avram Grant managed in Champions League? You quoted a Wikipedia flippant comment by Mathias as a 'gospel' description of his team talks & tactics for Christ's sake!!!

It's the COACH who's identity is yet to be determined - Matthias will likely be his assistant manager (which proper research will show you).

You're like the Comical Ali of the footy worl at present, get a grip please !!

I just heard read an article on www.newsnow.co.uk, stating that rovers are ready to make a suprise move for Harry Kewel? As anyone else heard this? personaly i thinks inaccurate as we couldn't afford his wages. To injury prone too. Suppose he has been playing well for Australia through the Asian world cup qualifiers. What do you think?

Hi KELBO ...The qoute is from D.Bentley on a footy website pointed out by THAI in that BENTS is qouted as saying ' INCE will do well for US'

US being the key word. I am assuming that BENTS is prepared to have re-think on his request for a transfer? At the very least INCE should be given the oppotunity to work with BENTS .

How accurate the qoute is negible?
