FORMER Liverpool boss Roy Evans believes Paul Ince will prove to be an inspirational figure at Ewood Park.

Evans signed Ince for around £4m back in the summer of 1997, after the England midfielder had spent two years with Inter Milan.

Ince went on to become the heartbeat of Liverpool's midfield, making 65 appearances and scoring 14 goals.

Now in the Rovers hot-seat, Ince is back in the English top flight, and Evans is certain that the 40-year-old will bring the best out of Blackburn's players.

"I'm delighted for him - this was certainly the next step for Paul," said Evans.

"He's gone through the system and learned his trade.

"He's always had an aura about him (at Liverpool).

"He's a captain. Once he crosses that white line, you knew what you were going to get off him.

"I think he will be the same in management.

"Paul's always wanted to win.

"He has a way about him that inspires others and I think he will do a very good job."

Along with his man-management skills, Evans insists that Ince is also a born winner and will expect nothing but the best from his troops.

Evans said: "He was at Manchester United and when he came to us, it was very beneficial to have him.

"We had a lot of young lads in the team and, once you were on that pitch, he only wanted one thing and that was to be successful."

He is quoted as saying "He has a way about him that inspires others" - are you just 'nit-picking' or did you get out of the wrong side of the bed today James?
