THE campaign by the Secular Society in Scotland against faith schools gathers momentum ("Church leaders welcome review of education committee role", The Herald, January 15).

The first step in dismantling faith schools will be the abolition of representatives from churches on education committees. It may be the case that at times church representatives are not always as attentive as they should be, largely due to a large number of other commitments, and so the people with the time, the will and the energy (secularists) have made the running.

It is, however, a sprint with a false start. Secularists have yet to put forward a positive vision for education
