BLACKBURN Rovers are sweating on the fitness of Josh King ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

The attacker limped off with a hamstring injury just four minutes after coming on in Tuesday’s 2-1 home loss to promotion-pushing Norwich City.

King was brought on by at half-time with striker Jordan Rhodes the player to be sacrificed.

Rovers led at the break but had spent most of the opening period penned back into their own half.

Gary Bowyer said he wanted to use King’s pace as an outlet to stretch the Canaries backline and that it was a ‘blow’ when he had to withdraw him so early after coming on.

“Losing Josh was a blow and you saw when he first went on that he got in right away,” said Rovers boss Bowyer.

“We hoped that was going to be the case for us again as we had our noses in front.

“You saw the reasons behind it, and it worked as we got him in straight away, so it was hugely disappointing that it changed.

“We’ll just have to assess him and see how bad it is or how good it is.”
