I’D be open to the possibility of playing Jordan Rhodes up front on his lonesome because it would present an opportunity for players like David Dunn and, in particular, Tom Cairney to influence a game more centrally.

It could also help us freshen up a very stale midfield which is crying out for more flexibility and a bit of creativity. Add into this that Rhodes’ goalscoring output has actually been stifled rather than aided by Rudy’s resurgence in form, it could give our side a fresh start with the Benin Bomber set for pastures new.

I’VE never been in favour of playing lone strikers up front and what’s more Jordan Rhodes is not the ideal candidate even in the right circumstances.

He’s a goal poacher and needs a partner to work with and alongside. Initially with Rudy Gestede this appeared to be effective but recently they haven’t gelled.

We are going to have to persevere with Chris Brown, Luke Varney or Josh King, hoping that they find some form and affinity with Jordan’s style of play.

IF Rovers can be a little less predictable and more creative then possibly but current form suggests they are struggling to do so.

Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes appear to have become two individuals in a ‘marriage of convenience’ this season.

Chris Brown, Luke Varney or Chris Taylor need to build up a rapport with Rhodes and form a partnership.

One hopes it is Brown. The ‘BAR’ has a nice ring to it.
