TOP-SCORER Rudy Gestede yesterday trained alongside his Blackburn Rovers team-mates as talks continued over his potential move to Crystal Palace.

The 12-goal striker pulled out of the Rovers squad for Saturday’s Championship clash at Wigan Athletic after Palace firmed up their interest.

But, as Gary Bowyer suggested after the 1-1 DW Stadium draw, Gestede was back at Brockhall yesterday.

Rovers boss Bowyer has not been told by Venky’s he has to sell Gestede.

But, with the towering targetman keen to make the step up to the Premier League, it looks like he will have to.

However a deal will only go through if Palace meet the asking price placed on Gestede’s head by Rovers owners Venky’s.

That is understood to be in the region of £5m.

Negotiations between the clubs over a fee for Gestede, who has scored 24 goals in 45 appearances for Rovers since his £200,000 move from Cardiff City last January, yesterday carried on.

Rovers are also hopeful of sending transfer-listed forward Leon Best back out on loan after his return from Derby County.

Brighton & Hove Albion have been linked with Best.
