Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: "Charlton at their own ground is a very tough game for us as they have an excellent record at the Valley.

"Obviously we would have preferred a home tie for the fans so soon after Christmas.

"But it is a good game to start the new year and it is a competition we want to do well in to help our cause this season."

It will be the second match between the sides in the space of two weeks as Rovers welcome Charlton to Ewood Park for a Championship encounter on December 20.
