BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer insists his decision over who to play in goal tomorrow will not be easy.

Number one Jason Steele will return for the Ewood Park clash with Sheffield Wednesday after the rules of his season-long loan from Middlesbrough made him ineligible for last Saturday’s 1-1 Riverside Stadium draw.

But the man-of-the-match display delivered by Steele’s deputy Simon Eastwood has left Bowyer with plenty to ponder.

He said: “I don’t think it’s straightforward as the level of Easty’s performance last Saturday was nothing short of outstanding and it’s not a fluke, he did it last year at QPR as well.

“What it does is fill you with confidence knowing that you’ve got someone like Easty can come in and deliver a performance like that.

"The competition is fantastic because it raises the levels even further for us."

Midfielder Tom Cairney will go straight back into Bowyer’s squad after suspension ruled him out against Boro.

And he could yet be joined by captain Grant Hanley.

The centre back came off against Boro with an ankle injury.

But Bowyer, who is still without Jason Lowe, Josh King, Matt Kilgallon and Tommy Spurr, said: “Grant’s made great progress with the medical team so we’re going to give him as long as possible.”

Of Lowe, King and Kilgallon, Bowyer said: “Jason has trained with us for three days this week and has looked really impressive so he’s going the right way.

“And Matt Kilgallon and Josh King have been out on the grass but they’ve not been out with us (full training) yet.”
