BLACKBURN Rovers have been compared to bitter rivals Burnley by Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray.

Gray, who brings his Owls to Ewood Park tomorrow, can see similarities between the team Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has built and the Clarets one that won promotion last season.

He said: “They are nice and solid, have got two banks of four and two lads who are scoring goals.

“You are going to win games of football if you have that at this level as Burnley showed last season.

“They’ve got a bit of the Burnley mould. They’ve got two solid banks of four and two boys up front who can cause you problems.”

Gray believes the Rovers strike-partnership of Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes is the best outside the Premier League.

He said: "They probably are the best front two in the Championship.

“I think Blackburn play to their strengths. They get the ball forward early to Gestede and Rhodes comes alive in the box.

“We have to nullify the service to them.”

But Gray will also warn his players about the threat posed by a former Wednesday loanee.

“Ben Marshall is playing out of his skin at the moment,” said Gray, who was reportedly interested in taking the winger back to Hillsborough in the summer.

“He's playing very well so we have to keep him quiet.”

Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to nine games last Saturday when they snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

And Gray said: “I watched the highlights of the Boro game. It just shows if you keep going right to the end anything is possible.

“It might have been a foul on the Boro keeper but they got on with the decision.

"But we don't fear anybody. We are performing well on our travels.”
