BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer cannot believe Rudy Gestede has not been named the joint winner of the Championship player of the month award.
The Rovers top-scorer has missed out on the prize to Andre Gray despite scoring as many goals in November – five in five games – as the Brentford striker.
Bowyer said: “If he’s got five in five and the other lad’s got five in five, why are they not joint winners? What’s the other lad done more so than Rudy?”
The other nominees were Birmingham City goalkeeper Darren Randolph and Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt.
It is the fourth month running that Rovers have been nominated but failed to win one of the Championship’s monthly awards.
Tom Cairney and Ben Marshall were in the running for the respective August and September player prizes while Bowyer missed out on October’s manager award.
Brentford have made it a club double after Mark Warburton was named November’s manager of the month.
The other managers nominated were Ipswich Town’s Mick McCarthy, Birmingham’s Gary Rowett and Bolton Wanderers’ Neil Lennon.
