SUMMER signing Chris Brown is champing at the bit to make his first competitive appearance for Blackburn Rovers after scoring two goals in a 45-minute cameo in the 5-2 behind-closed-doors friendly win over Carlisle United at Brockhall in midweek.

But the striker, who has yet to kick a ball for the club after being struck down by a knee injury that he is now fully recovered from, is unlikely to be risked in tomorrow’s Championship clash at home to Leeds United.

Instead his belated Rovers debut is set to come in Tuesday’s Lancashire FA Senior Cup quarter-final tie with Manchester United at Leigh Sports Village.

“Common sense has got to come into consideration,” said Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

“He’s only done 45 minutes and, if you like, he’s just done his pre-season.

“You don’t just chuck in him and give him 90 minutes so it might be too early for him to be involved against Leeds.

“But he will certainly feature in the Lancashire Senior Cup against Manchester United.”
