THE victory over Nottingham Forest was a massive result for Rovers, and I think it was the double substitution with the score at 1-0 that changed the game.

Forest started 4-4-2, were winning, then went to 4-5-1, and lost, while Rovers were losing with a 4-5-1, went to 4-4-2 and then turned it round and won.

I just think that Rovers are a better side when they play in the opposition half. They look a very dangerous team when they are attacking the opposition and putting pressure on the ball.

Every now and again Gary decides to try and set them up defensively and to counter attack, but I think they look better just going for it. They try and counter teams with pace but it didn’t really work on Saturday. But the substitution changed the game.

In the second half they pressed Forest and went at them and that caused them a lot of problems, in the end it could have been more than three.

From the teams I have seen this season in the Championship only Derby can rival Rovers in an attacking sense, so they have to play to their strengths.

I don’t think too many of our fans were too sure about a positive outcome before the match, Forest are a decent side with a good home record, but they hadn’t been at their best recently and I think they were there for the taking, and at half time I think the Rovers players realised they were there for the taking as well.

The first half was like a game of chess but I always thought Blackburn could get back into the game, and it happened with the change of system.

It’s a young side as well and there is a lot of potential there, and a lot of room for learning. Gary himself has come up through the academy and coaching the under 18s and under 21s, so it’s his way to work with a younger group and this is a young team, he is bringing the best out of them and they look full of confidence.

It’s back-to-back wins for the first team this season and it’s the two away results that look very impressive, going to Ipswich and Forest and taking four points is fantastic, there aren’t many tougher places to go in this league.

It was good to see Jordan back on the score sheet as well. When a player with his record goes five games without a goal we all talk about it, but we all know Jordan Rhodes can score goals, and the great thing is that we have midfielders and a strike partner in Rudy Gestede that can chip in and take the pressure off as well.
