VERSATILE Blackburn Rovers star Ben Marshall has been nominated for the Championship player of the month award for September.

Marshall scored three goals during the month, including two superb strikes in the 3-1 home win over Wigan Athletic, and was played on both wings, behind the forwards and at right back.

He is up against Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome, Blackpool goalkeeper Joe Lewis and Ipswich Town full back Tyrone Mings for the prize.

Middlesbrough’s Aitor Karanka, Ipswich’s Mick McCarthy, Derby County’s Steve McClaren and Charlton Athletic’s Bob Peeters are in the running for the manager of the month award.

The winners will be announced tomorrow.

Rovers midfielder Tom Cairney was nominated for August’s player of the month prize.

The award went to Charlton’s Igor Vetokele.
