POLICE are investigating the death of a 21-year-old found hanging in his room at a privately-run rehabilitation hospital.

Ryan Peachey was found in The Fountains, Pleasington Close, Blackburn, on Wednesday.

The the opening of an inquest, it was revealed police were investigating, but said there was little evidence of any third party involvement.

Today the operators of the home, Cambian Healthcare Ltd, based in London, issued a statement expressing their sadness at the incident.

The Fountains is a male-only rehabilitation mental health hospital, and caters for 32 people aged between 18 and 65. It was registered with the Healthcare Commission in January 2005.

Patients at the Fountains are all NHS funded and the facility can accept people who have been sectioned under the mental health act. Referrals are made by NHS doctors if patients need extra, rehabilitation care. A spokesman for Cambian said: "The hospital and staff and patients sadly regret the tragic incident that occurred on May 24. The patient involved was a male who has been at the hospital for only a short period of time.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the patient's family, fellow patients and staff in the hospital at this time."

The inquest was adjourned until June 14.
