A MAN is being hunted by police after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on a train.
British Transport Police said that the man had sat next to the girl on the 8.03pm service between Blackburn and Manchester Victoria on Saturday February 23.
He then asked her a number of questions which became more personal whilst placing his hand on her leg.
The offender is believed to have left the train at either Bromley Cross or Hall i'th'Wood stations between 20.20hrs and 20.30hrs.
He is described as a black male, 5ft 7ins tall, of a slim build, wearing black smart trousers, a black jumper with a white top underneath his jumper.
He was carrying a mobile phone charger and is said to have spoken with a Blackburn accent.
PC Kath Moreland said: "The victim was made to feel uncomfortable and frightened and was left extremely upset and shocked following the incident.
"I am appealing to anyone who was on this train or anyone who recognises the description to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact PC Kath Moreland at British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
