FIREFIGHTERS have cut a man free from a car after a crash on the outskirts of Oswaldtwistle.

Two cars were involved in the collision in Haslingden Old Road, near the Britannia Inn pub roundabout, at 7.45am.

Lancashire police said the road was blocked between Guide and Oswaldtwistle, with heavy traffic building up in both directions.

A spokeswoman said: “We received reports of a collision between two cars, with one person trapped and smoke coming from their vehicle.”

Fire crews from Hyndburn fire station freed a man with a broken ankle from one of the cars. It is not yet known if anyone else was injured.
