POLICE are appealing for information after a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Great Harwood.

The incident took place at around 5pm on Saturday 18 October when the victim was approached by a man on Town Hall Street.

The man is believed to have engaged her in conversation before touching her bottom.

He then made off on foot along Blackburn Road in the direction of Rishton.

The offender is described as a white male between 40 and 50 years of age, approximately 5ft 7in tall, large build with very short balding grey hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a grey or black tracksuit top with possibly a high visibility vest over the top, dark tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers.

DC David Gill of East CID said: “This was a distressing incident for this young girl and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. I would ask anyone who may have any information to contact us.”
