X FACTOR sensation Reece Bibby has not let his new-found fame go to his head.

The youngster made a special guest appearance at a showcase event for his old music school on Sunday, a day after being watched on the small screen by millions nationwide.

The 15-year-old spent three years at the Elite School of Music in Darwen, and bosses there have named him ‘student ambassador’.

Paul Stuart Davies, who runs the school in Blackburn Road with business partner Mark Bateson, said: “Reece was with us from 2009 to 2012. He initially came in for drum and singing lessons and straight away we could see the potential was there.

“He was a really good performer and it did not surprise me when I heard what had gone on.”

Mr Davies said at this stage it was unclear what the ambassador role would mean to Reece.

He said: “It is quite a loose term really at the moment and we will have to wait and see how far he goes.

“Obviously if he goes really far in the competition and gets really famous then he won’t have as much time to come and see us. But it will be great for us to be able to say Reece is our student ambassador.”

In a handwritten note to the school, he said: “It only seems like two minutes ago when I was stood on this stage, a nervous wreck, performing in front of an audience like this for the first time.

“This is where it began for me and many others, with Elite School of Music, and joining their team was probably the best decision I ever made.

“It was a huge stepping stone to get to where I am now.

“I would like to thank my tutor, Paul Davies, and the whole Elite team for making my dreams that little bit more realistic and hopefully they can continue to help people like me create new opportunities for themselves at such early stages, just like I did.”

Reece’s dad Jamie added: “Reece has always wanted to do things for the community and we will always remember where he came from.

“We are really close to Paul so anything we can do to help him we will do.”
