A RISHTON author has spoken of her delight after publishing her first book.

Married mum-of-three Hazel Robinson described her romance novel, Something Missing, as a ‘dream come true’.

She said: “It was one of the those things I’ve always wanted to do, and when it came true it was a dream come true.

“I am addicted to books and got friendly with an author who encouraged me to have a go myself.

“I started writing a year ago and approached Little Bird publishers who have now printed my debut novel.

“I am working on the sequel now."

The 30-year-old, who lives in Burton Street, said her book focuses on orphan and product of the care system, Susan, who returns to her childhood home in Winchelsea.

Alongside her childhood friend, Max, the first boy she ever kissed, Susan attempts to find the path she believes her life should have taken.

The story was an idea that has been firmly rooted in Hazel’s head for years, but it was only when she gave birth to her youngest child, Casey-James, four, that she became inspired to write.

Her road to writing started with a love for paranormal romance novels, and after finding a passion for tragic romance she set out on the mission to share her own story.

She said: “I've always had a passion for reading but over the last several years it has become an obsession.

“A few months ago, I decided to put fingers to keys to keyboard – or pen to paper – and write Something Missing, a story I’ve had hidden away in the back of my mind for a long time."

Hazel said her husband James, 35, and her other children, Damien, 11, and Emma, eight, were ‘proud’ of her achievements, with Emma also becoming inspired to pick up a pen and start writing.

Something Missing can be bought online in either paperback form or for the Kindle at the website www.amazon.com.
