Police hunt for serial flasher in Oswaldtwistle
8:33am Tuesday 25th March 2014 in Hyndburn
CONCERNS are growing after a spate of indecent exposures over the past year.
A woman told police a man exposed himself at the window of a house in Cecil Street, Oswaldtwistle, on Friday night.
The man reportedly left the area after the incident at 11pm and has not been seen since.
Police said the woman in the house had been left distressed but was only able to describe the flasher as white.
There have been five similar offences in the past 12 months in the Accrington area. All involve a man exposing himself at the ground floor window of houses with women inside.
The other offences were committed in and around Church in King Road and Owen Street in April, Devonshire Street in July, Hereford Close in October and Gloucester Avenue in November.
All the incidents took place during the hours of darkness, the earliest one being 8.30pm and the latest at 1am.
DS Tim McDermott said: “These offences must have been very disturbing for the victims and we are exploring all lines of enquiry to try the trace the offender. The offences are all similar in that the nature of them is a man standing outside after dark with the victims inside a lit room.
“This has made it difficult for them to provide us with descriptions and we need the help of the local community to report anything they have seen that they feel was suspicious even if it is something they didn’t report at the time but now in hindsight feel may have been relevant.”
