Blackburn Citizen: Officers at Wolfenden Farm, in Oswaldtwistle yesterday Officers at Wolfenden Farm, in Oswaldtwistle yesterday

HORSE boxes and vehicles were among hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of property seized during raids at two farms.

Police investigating reports of thefts first visited premises in Rushton Street, Great Harwood, where they found property, including a motorhome.

Detective Inspector Eric Halford, from Lancashire Police’s target team, said it was believed the property had been stolen from Yorkshire.

Officers then visited Wolfenden Farm, in Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle, yesterday.

Police said they found horse boxes, stolen vehicles, and a motorhome, which were all seized.

The action was taken by officers in the high impact acquisitive crime team.

DI Halford said the raids were a culmination of several weeks’ worth of intelligence gathering.

He said: “At Oswaldtwistle, we seized all sorts of stuff which we suspect is stolen from across the county, if not the whole North West.

“This is an operation we have been looking at over the last couple of weeks.

“Initial estimations show that we have uncovered a couple of hundred thous-and pounds worth of property.”

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Anybody with information about stolen property is asked to contact Lancash-ire Police on 101.

Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers anony-mously on 0800 555111.
