Walk raises money for Oswaldtwistle play area
2:00pm Monday 7th October 2013 in Hyndburn
A PLAY area in Oswaldtwistle moved one step closer after a sponsored walk raised £700.
Hyndburn Funeral Services in Oswaldtwistle has been working with 13-year-old David Reid to raise funds for the play area at West End.
Twelve walkers took part in the TRICOR event, which visited Hyndburn Funeral Service’s three chapels of rest, to raise money for the West End Play Area Appeal.
The walk was officially started by Hyndburn mayor, Coun Judith Addison, at 10.30am in the Trinity Chapel of Rest in Oswaldtwistle.
The route took walkers to Great Harwood, Accrington and back to Oswaldtwistle for around 3.30pm.
Funeral arranger, Allan Dobson, presented appeal campaigner David Reid with a cheque for £350, and thanked the walkers who took part, as well as Tesco Accrington, which provided bottled water on the day.
David and his family raised a further £350, bringing the total to £700.
