Oswaldtwistle school gets defibrillator after cash windfall
7:00pm Thursday 14th March 2013 in Hyndburn

A SCHOOL has been kitted out with life-saving equipment thanks to a cash windfall.
Charity Pumping Marvellous were at St Mary’s Primary School in Oswaldtwistle with a heart defibrillator on Tuesday as part of a project to make them accessible in public buildings.
The charity launched a scheme to place the equipment in schools after winning £10,000 in the race for the Gannett Award.
The Gannett Foundation, a charitable foundation associated with the Lancashire Telegraph, will see funds spent on defibrillators across the East Lancashire area.
Pumping Marvellous has also joined forces with the North West Ambulance Service to see the defibrillators become part of the Chain of Survival Committee which is responsible for defibrillator mapping.
This means that when people dial 999 the emergency operator will be able to direct the responder to the nearest defibrillator.

Wait until a 999 operator sends a responder to a defibrillator in an establishment that is closed or does not have an operator available, Who is liable, the school, the 999 service, the authorised operator who is off sick, or the charity who provided the equipment and then failed to ensure it's availability.

All well and good, What happens when the persons trained in the use of the Kit are away on leave, sick, training, or their certification has lapsed.

I have never claimed benefits during my whole life (now 57) and have paid tens of thousands in taxes! what on earth has that got to do with the article in question you moron ?
These people have done something worthwhile and if they only save one life - the cause will have been justified! no wonder our country is in the situation it is in - with such negative responses to what is obviously a good cause brought about by the efforts of honest concerned caring people. how sad!

Why don't you comment on the subject matter i.e. the news article.
You are the one with something to hide, that is obvious - and I know who you are! so get a life. oh sorry - I forgot about your present circumstances ! ha ha
Well Done St Mary's !!! I won't let someone like the above posters kill the True English Spirit that inspires stories like these - what a pleasant change from the depressing sad stories that generally headline our newspapers today!

Thought an old folks home might be more appropriate. What do I know?
