Overgrown grass cleared in Darwen

A PATCH of land that was allowed to grow out of control has finally been cleared.

People living near the land off Jacks Key Drive had complained it looked a mess, but it was not clear who owned it.

Now Blackburn with Darwen council has cut the grass and agreed to carry on maintaining it while the owner is tracked down.

Whitehall Lib Dem councillor Karimeh Foster, who lobbied the town hall on behalf of the residents, said: “The council has a policy to keep areas at the entrance to the borough neat and tidy.

"This will be a relief to the residents.”

Now they just need to do Robin Bank/Shorey Bank, Richmond Park, and no doubt numerous other places that has not been properly maintained; and they are council owned.

They're just finishing it.

Yay!

Thanks to whoever sorted it. It looks MUCH better now."

You're a bit slow.

Oh yes, I forgot, I didn't mention any councillor's name.

After all, I suppose that was the whole point of reporting it in the first place.

this is worthy of a celebration!

Now that this eyesore has been tidied up, maybe the council can take a look around Queens Park where the grass is over waist high and hasn't been cut all season!!

Too many comments about council-owned land that isn't being maintained... so why is our council tax being used to maintain private land, Mrs Foster?
Another case of posh people getting a bigger slice of the pie than the plebs?

Happycyclist is right. Why don't the council come and cut those privately owned gardens round my way that are overgrown ?
Exactly which bits of privately owned land will the Council maintain, and which will it not ?
Has the Council got a list ?

I suggest that you check out the location of ALL Councillors homes, chances are that is where you will find the privately owned land
