“DANGEROUS” fencing in the Blacksnape area of Darwen is being fixed to prevent children injuring themselves on nails.

The fencing, at a playground at the top of Pole Lane, was posing a risk to users of the park and passers-by, especially children, according to ward councillor Simon Huggill.

Now Blackburn with Darwen Council is in the process of rectifying the problem by replacing the panels with new fencing.

Coun Huggill said: “The fencing was in a very delapidated state before.

“When it’s like that, kids love nothing more than to pull at it and make it even worse, and it became very dangerous with nails sticking out.

“I’m very pleased that something is being done to resolve the problem.”

Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture said: “We are at present repairing the damage to this fencing which will improve its safety and appearance.”
