A POLICE pursuit ended when a driver lost control of his vehicle which climbed a grass bank and collided with a concrete wall.

Blackburn magistrates were told that Karl Davie Carrie got out of the car and ran off down an alley but was arrested after a short chase.

Carrie, 26, of Nancy Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence, possession of cannabis and possession of amphetamine.

He was sent to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced and made subject to an interim driving ban.

The court was told that the chase started when police saw a car go through a no entry sign onto Market Street, Darwen.

The pursuit continued on Blackburn Road, Hardman Way and Sudell Street, at times reaching speeds in excess of 50mph in a 30mph zone.

The car crashed at the junction of Kay Street and Allen Street.
