The Gospel According to Frozen saw clips and songs from the 2013 film featured as part of the service led by Deacon David Keegan.

Presented in three parts, crafts for both children and adults were available at the start before sections of the movie were used to explain the themes in the Bible.

The service ended with a time of reflective worship based on the highlighted themes.

Around 70 Frozen fans joined the congregation with adults and children alike dressed as their favourite character.

Deacon Keegan said: “The response to this has been fantastic and really positive.

“It’s great to see so many people in the church and there are twice as many people here for this service than normal.

“We held a similar event two years ago where we used the Star Wars films as a theme.

“We wanted to do something that involved out toddler group and help them engage with the Gospels.”

Mum-of-two Emma Jump, 39, from Lower Darwen, was amongst the congregation at at New Methodist Church, Blackburn Road, Darwen.

She said: “Normally there are half as many people here for this service and it will be interesting to see how many people come back next week.

“Both my girls, Holly who is 11-years-old and Daisy who is two-years-old, are huge Frozen fans so this is perfect for them.

“It’s an interesting way to try and get people more involved with the church and it looks like it’s working.”
