LOWER Darwen Primary School has been awarded Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Mark for their commitment to competition in sport for 2013/14.
The school off Milking Lane provides opportunities for children to compete against other children in their own school and other schools in Blackburn with Darwen.
Lower Darwen has a dedicated sports coach who works with pupils in PE lessons and after school.
They enter competitions throughout the year including football, netball, athletics, tennis, cricket, rounders, tag rugby, swimming, hockey and cross country, giving many opportunities for them to take part in competitive sport.
Laura Taylor, PE co-ordinator, said: “I am delighted that our school has been recognised for all the work that we do regarding sport. We are very lucky to have such talented and committed children who make it all worthwhile”
The school has taken part in cross country, football and tag rugby events. They are preparing for a High Fives netball competition.
