MP Jake Berry has called for people to step up their backing for the Royal British Legion after he met its local representatives at the recent Darwen Day.
The legion is the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity with branches all over the country for social, fundraising and welfare activities.
The Darwen Branch meets at 7.30pm every second and fourth Tuesday at The Anchor public house on the A666.
Tory MP Mr Berry said: “The legion’s work can never be overstated, providing help and support for those who have served our country and their families by raising funds through the annual Poppy Appeal.
“With the centenary of the start of the First World War, it’s more important than ever to support those who have protected our country in the Armed Forces.”
