A GROUP of Rangers from Darwen made their ‘guiding promise’ outside Buckingham Palace shortly after joining 4,000 Girl Guiding members from all over the UK for one of the most significant guiding events of the year, World Thinking Day.

The youngsters, all 14 to 16, travelled to London’s Alexandra Palace for Celebrate, an action-packed day of activities, workshops, performances and games.

Activities included a roller disco, ten-pin bowling, and workshops in photography, circus skills, fingerprinting and slimy science, with zorb racing, an inflatable assault course, bungee trampolining and games of human table football on offer for thrillseekers.

The Rangers then made their way to Buckingham Palace to make their promise next to the Victoria Memorial.

Lucy Ashworth, 16, said: “Celebrate was the biggest party I have ever been to, and to finish the day by making my promise with my friends outside Buckingham Palace was incredible.”
