CHILDREN have been bowled over by a new after-school club.
Pupils at St Stephen’s CE Primary School in Tockholes have been taking weekly classes to hone their skills with crown green bowling.
The club, run by local man John Jacklin, has proved to be a hit with the students with up to a dozen regulars attending the after-school club each Monday.
Karin Riding, admin manager at the Rock Lane school, said the children had been thrilled with the idea.
She said: “They absolutely love it. John is one of the friends of the school and when he came up with the idea, we were very interested to see how they would take to it. They thoroughly enjoy it and John makes it fun. “As well as learning bowls it is a fun way to brush up their numeracy skills while they keep tally on the scores.
“A big thank you has to go out to Mr Jacklin for helping give the children such a fun and informative experience.”
