A MAN has been arrested after a taxi driver was threatened with a knife in Darwen.

The man and his friend, who had been out drinking, were being dropped off at a house in Darwen in the early hours today when an argument broke out.

One of the men then pulled out a knife and threatened the driver, who then drove away.

The men were being dropped off in Olive Lane from elsewhere in Darwen by an M Cars taxi.

One of the men was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. He is being quizzed by police.

Insp Ilyas Mohmed, from Blackburn police, said: “There has been some kind of kick-off with the taxi driver.”

Max Ashraf, owner of M Cars, said: “Somebody pulled a knife out on one of our drivers.

“It happened in Olive Lane at about 12.30am. They had been picked up from an address in Darwen.

“The driver is not hurt but he was a bit shaken and we are now assisting the police with their inquiries.”
