Darwen school in the running for property 'Oscar'

DARWEN Vale High School is in the running for a regional property ‘Oscar’.

The school has been nominated in the ‘design and innovation’ category of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors North West awards.

Each of the 42 projects nominated across seven categories is in line for the Project of the Year.

The Blackburn Road school reopened last September after a two-year renovation project under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

Darwen Vale headteacher Fiona Jack said: “We are very pleased to be nominated for this prestigious award which recognises the new facilities that will enable us to be at the forefront of education for the 21st-century.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, on Thursday, May 9.
