POLICE are investigating a fire which wrecked a car.

Firefighters were called to the red Citroen Saxo, which was in Egerton Lane, Darwen at around 10.15pm on Monday.

Watch manager Tony Keane said one crew attended the blaze equipped with breathing apparatus and hose reels.

He said: “The thing that makes this fire a little bit suspicious is that there was no owner with the vehicle.

“We called the police at the time and they were investigating.”

The crew was at the scene for approximately 50 minutes.

The vehicle was then removed by police.

I bet it was the 'previous' owner. Put him/her under a bit of pressure and they'll squeal like a Blackbun with Darwin horse.
