Brownies in Darwen raise funds with bag-pack

BROWNIES will be packing bags at Asda, Darwen, this weekend to raise cash for their second annual pack holiday.

Youngsters from the 8th Darwen St James Brownies are raising funds for their trip to Newby Bridge in the Lake District.

They will be in the School Street store from 10am to 2pm and, as well as packing bags for customers, they will also be running a tombola with prizes donated from the community.

Pack leader Kezia Cameron-Atkin said the children were looking forward to their trip.

She said: “The Brownies will have the opportunity to experience activities they have not experienced before, for example crate-stacking, low ropes and bell-boating.

“They look forward to this trip all year and it really brings them together and they learn and share new skills such as independence, organisation, cooking and cleaning.

“This is the second year Asda has kindly supported us in our fundraising attempts.”
