Gritters were blocked by parked cars at Tockholes

TOCKHOLES Parish Council has addressed concerns that roads in the village were not gritted during the recent bad weather.

Residents were worried that Old School Lane and Chapels Lane had been taken off Blackburn with Darwen Council’s gritting route. But parish councillors challenged the highways department who assured them the roads were on its route.

A spokesman said: “On several occasions the gritter could not treat certain lanes due to obstructions by parked vehicles.

“The official route for gritting Tockholes is Rock Lane, Chapels Lane, Long Lane and Old School Lane, provided is is safe to do so and there are no obstructions.”

Maybe the locals should be educated on parking. Also advised when it snows gritters will be coming past and they should move their cars?

Just drive on through! Any damage is the fault of the idiot parkers who have no thought whatsoever for other road users as long as they do not need to walk to their front door. Double parking is illegal, about time the police did something about it.
