Darwen council calls for community groups to take part in award scheme

DARWEN town council is calling on community groups to take part in its £30,000 award scheme.
If successful, applicants will receive up to £2,000 for initiatives that benefit the community.
The awards are restricted to voluntary community ideas within the BB3 postcode area.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to attend an informal meeting with the judging committee.
The awards scheme is a joint venture between Crown Paints and Darwen Town Council Communities Committee, which jointly assess applications and grant awards accordingly.
Applications will be considered until March 31.
