PUPILS at Witton Park High School have said goodbye to their cramped, dark and damp old building and hello to their new school.

The new building, set in the heart of Witton Park, is complete with outdoor classrooms, multi-use games areas, astroturf, outdoor gardens and orchards.

The school is packed with the latest ICT and state-of-the-art technology, which includes interactive whiteboards and a room of Apple Mac computers.

Teachers at the school were working throughout August to make sure everything was ready for their new and existing students.

Students also will be sporting a brand new smart uniform.

Instead of the former polo shirt and jumper, students will wear a shirt and tie, with a black blazer.

The blazer is to have a different coloured lapel for each year group with a coloured tie to match.

Headteacher, Dean Logan, said: “It has been amazing to watch the reaction of staff and students alike as they have entered the school and walked around, they have been totally awestruck.

“We have had an exciting few weeks with the news of our fantastic results and have high expectations and high standards for the future, both academically and in the excellent conduct of our students.”

The school has also celebrated its best results ever with a 10 per cent increase in the results for children obtaining five A* to Cs including English and Mathematics.

The public will have an opportunity to view the new building at a local community day where visitors can walk round the school on Saturday, September 22.
