KEVIN Gallacher is set to share the inside track on Blackburn Rover’s historic Premier League triumph for the standout date of the year at a village club.

The 48-year-old Scot and Lancashire Telegraph columnist is the star attraction for a sportsman’s dinner at Hoddlesden Club on Friday, August 14.

He suffered a nightmare season, with two broken legs, but still scored in his sole appearance in the 1994-95 campaign.

But the winger would bounce back to form a prolific partnership with Chris Sutton, before departing Ewood in 1999, having spells with Newcastle United, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town before he called time on his career.

He will be introduced by star MC, ex-world snooker stalwart, Ian McCulloch.

The Preston Potter, a former British Open runner-up, is now a regular pundit for William Hill.

Comics Dominic Woodward and Bobby Murdock,who writes a column for our sister paper, the Warrington Guardian, are also on the bill, with a memorabilia auction and potato pie supper planned.
