A BLACKBURN store rolled put out the welcome mat for TV crews as they nailed down filming on a new national advertising campaign.

United Carpets in King Street was invaded by cameras, lighting rigs and make-up artists for two days as footage for the new promos was captured.

Store manager Adam Harris said: “We only opened in November last year, so everything is still shiny and new. I think that was part of the appeal for them to come here.

“We didn’t really know what to expect and it was very interesting seeing them in action.

“You don’t realise what goes into filming these things and it does take a while getting it all right. Each scene was done three or four different ways at least.

“They filmed over both our floors and pretty much turned the place upside down.

“The adverts are for a number of different promotions, for example Bank Holidays and one-off sales, and our interest-free credit offer.

“They will be shown on television throughout the year.”

While none of the staff featured this time, Adam revealed his team have got a taste for the showbiz lifestyle.

He added: “Some of the fitters from our store were featured on Channel 4’s ‘Cowboy Builders and Bodge Jobs’ in May. They helped out a family in Didsbury, Manchester, who’d had a nightmare with some refurbishment.”
